Business Computing is a degree designed to help you advance your career. Alongside studying a breadth of Information technologies (electronic office programming, databases, and multimedia) you will also study the fundamental areas of Business like management, marketing, accounting, finance and economics. This will equip you with the knowledge and skills to analyse and design computers that meet business’s requirements.
You will learn about the fundamental computing topics like data analysis and software development. But, you will also gain critical knowledge of business areas like consulting, management and IT operations, exploring the ways that digital technology is transforming businesses. You will also gain broader skills employers value in IT professionals, such as teamwork and leadership.
We have a strong relationship with industry and you can be able to work on real briefs and participate in a work placement. You will discover the ways that modern businesses utilize IT and be given the opportunity to design your own solutions to real-world issues.
Many students who have completed this course move into jobs that require a mix of IT and business knowledge like a project manager or software developer. Others choose to work in the business-user industry such as banks or insurance companies, or utilize their skills in IT and vocational to establish their own business. Some prefer to work in the grey area between business and IT, in positions such as IT security officer or consultant.
